Reminder: It’s Time to Apply for a Free Tree!
As the temperature soars into triple digits, it’s easy to see, and feel, the advantage of a tree canopy in our neighborhood.
Do you have a spot that needs a tree? How about expert advice on what and where to plant it, and a team of neighbors to plant it for you when the weather cools down?
Sound good? Trees improve air quality, reduce energy costs, and increase property values.
Deadline to sign up is September 30, 2018
A Sacramento Tree Foundation Community Forester will visit your home this fall to determine the best place to plant your tree. Depending on the site, homeowners may be eligible for multiple trees. See the trees that are available from this program at this link: http://www.sactree.com/trees.
Note: new this year, there are 4 evergreens that can be planted: The majestic Deodar Cedar, the native Interior Live Oak, and the smaller Strawberry tree or Bay Laurel.
On November 17, the River Park Tree Canopy Project will be sponsoring its fifth community tree planting.
If you can’t participate in the River Park Tree Planting Day on November 17, you can contact the Sacramento Tree Foundation and/or SMUD at any time to sign up for a free tree, at 924-8733 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
RIVER PARK TREE CANOPY PROJECT is a Neighborwoods Program co-sponsored by the Sacramento Tree Foundation, SMUD, River Park Neighborhood Association, River Park Garden Club, and Caleb Greenwood School.I
